Bluewater Flats is a large mixed use development in Superior, WI that includes 83 apartments and 12,000 SF of retail space. The project included the removals of site asphalt and concrete, trees, and a 14 ‘ tall sign. Although some footing and foundation removals were expected, we ran into several that were unexpected. As for utilities, there were two complete underground storm chamber systems, several storm catch basins, a complete sanitary service including 3 manholes, and a new water service. The team also constructed the parking lot and were responsible for subcontracting the asphalt, curbs, and walks. This large utility and earthwork project proved to have many challenges but through teamwork and strong communication with the general contractor the development of a first-class addition to East Superior was executed.
