Rachel Contracting was contacted after a previous contractor punctured a fuel-oil tank, releasing oil into the Duluth stormwater system and Lake Superior. The City of Duluth and the MPCA intervened and removed that contractor from the project. Rachel took over a partially demolished, unsecured structure with unstable two-story brick walls posing major safety concerns. Within one week, we completed the demolition, disposed of asbestos-containing material at a certified landfill, installed a stormwater catch basin, and backfilled 600CY of material topped with six inches of Class 5. The project required close coordination with the city and the MPCA, both of whom appreciated our responsiveness and careful management of this sensitive situation.
